The Integumentary System is a system containing of skin, nails , and hair . The main function of the Integumentary System is to protect the body from ultra violet rays , regulate body temperature , prevents loss of body fluids and protect from infectious organisms and injury . The nails cover the tops of your fingers and toes . Hair cover the top of your head and other body parts . Also the skin has nerve receptors to carry out touch , warmth ,cold and pain . The skin also produces waste which is sweat .
The three parts of the skin the first is outer most layer which is the epidermis which protects the body and provides a water tight barrier . Second , is the second layer of skin which is dermis which adds strength , support , and flexibility . Lastly is the hypodermis which is the third most layer of skin.

There are two types of skin . Hairy and glabrous (which is skin that has no hair examples : soles of your feet and palms of your hand .
